posticon I snapped my finger in a mousetrap

:cry I actually did it this morning. I was stupid.

I put a mousetrap in the bathroom drawer this morning and then a student came and we were talking about mice. I told him I put a peanut in the trap and he was telling me how to do peanut butter so that the mouse wouldn't get it, so I decided to wipe a little peanut butter on the trap, too.

I know. I know. I should have undone it. Instead I held down the thingy with one hand and wiped the peanut butter lightly with the other and the first hand slipped off the trap. It got my little finger.

I put arnica on it right away so that it didn't bruise too badly but there is a discolored dent in the bone and it hurts. It doesn't seem to be broken. It is just dented and hurts all the way up my finger into my hand.

The good thing is, my experiment with the arnica seemed to work. I tried the arnica right away and it didn't bruise badly. I always wondered if that actually worked. I always read that arnica stopped bruising.

Owee, Susa. :hug You are supposed to use a cotton swab or something to apply the peanut butter so you don't get your hand snapped. Gosh, I hope that gets better really quick. A bone bruise is awful. And we use arnica gel, too. It does help to make bruises go away quicker, I think.

Oh, wow, that must have hurt!

We have seen mice in our warehouse building at work. One of the guys is in charge of the mousetraps and peanut butter!

I don't do mousetraps, because that is not in my job description! We have caught one little mouse so far. Some of the mice must be very smart, though, because the peanut butter disappears almost every night, but no mouse gets caught!

What is arnica?

I sure hope that your finger is not broken.

What was the other problem that you had before...a possible broken hand? I can't remember. Did you ever get that X-rayed?

Ouch, I hope it heals quick. With all your cats, why do you need a mouse trap?

Actually, what I use is Arnica Flora gel. Here is a link that tells about arnica: here

The finger I damaged before is on the other hand and it still hurts a bit, but nothing like it did all spring and summer. I never had it x-rayed and it works.

My new booboo is on my right hand.

This dumb mouse comes up the heat pipe in the bathroom and goes up in a bathroom drawer. I don't think it comes out into the room. I had a couple mice in that drawer last winter. Before that I hadn't had a mouse for 17 years.

Sorry about your finger Susa. I wonder if you got one of those mouse things that the mouse go in the box but can't get out. If you could put it right where the mouse goes from the pipe to the drawer. Could it be the same mouse and how could you tell. LOL

LOL I really do not want to catch a mouse dead but I would like to catch one alive even less. I have an empty peanut butter jar all ready to toss the whole trap in when I catch this critter. I have a second jar ready for its buddy.

just what I was thinking Shelle.... I always thought mice could smell if cats were in a building?

and also Susa, I have to admit that I was thinking to say to you...." now you know how the poor mouse feels" but then I don`t have mice! well we do, we have field mice or voles... and our cats kill them outside, decapitate them and leave them just outside the door for me to step into if I am not fully awake! :hug oh ! :laugh

Re:

These little mice are field mice.

I haven't looked at the trap yet this morning, but my finger feels better! I thought it would feel worse this morning. I don't think it will take as long to heal as my other one because the injury isn't in the joint.

Sorry that happened! Those mouse traps can HURT!! Hope you are feeling fine by tomorrow at least. I guess it can be hard to teach your kids piano with a sore finger.

Your kitties need to have their job descriptions read to them again. :giggle I live between several wooded areas and I have no inside mice--the occasional mouse is dealt with quickly. My cats also kill the outside rodents, snakes, rabbits and squirrels. I wish they'd leave the squirrels and rabbits alone, but then, they wouldn't be cats.

All my cats don't hunt, either. Isis, Sarmoti, Gabriel, and Chiam hunt. The rest don't...well Magnus hunts leaves. She brings in a dozen leaves or more every day. lol
